概要
学修到達目標 | (a) Students will be improving their English listening skills in a variety of ways, including attention on: blended sounds, spelling-pronunciation differences, and regional accents. (b) Increased reading speed, particularly more fluent reading with attention to authentic pronunciation for inner speech. (c) Increased vocabulary, with repetition and recycled vocabulary a feature throughout the semester. (d) Students will have access to authentic materials and will learn how to manipulate them for their learning purposes. (e) Students will learn how to use reference materials and other tools support their autonomous learning. |

授業形態及び 授業方法 |
Due to the covid crisis, this course will not have face-to-face classes, but will meet on Moodle. The activities in Moodle will focus on video lectures with scaffolding, hints, tips, and strategies for learning through authentic materials, particularly online videos. Therefore, the focus will shift to the receptive skills of listening and reading. However, the content of the course will still focus on productive skills and expand into ways of building social networks and community, preparing STEM students for entering a globalized world with new knowledge and skills regarding English communication. Each week class will focus on a series of videos, readings, or activities. The last thing for each week will be a graded activity or quiz. Do not skip to the graded part at the end. Watch every video and do every reading multiple times for your understand and for becoming fluent in listening and reading in English. Keep a learning journal with new vocabulary, phrases, and concepts. Update your journal with each video and reading. Then you are ready for the graded activity or quiz. |

15 activities (writing, listening, or both) of 50 points each week = 100% Due to the Coronovirus crisis, we will not be meeting in class, limiting our chances for face-to-face interactive communication. Therefore, the usual activities and projects for this class will be altered to suit this situation. Class materials will be ondemand, and the activities will be focused mainly on writing and listening. The project is cancelled for this semester, and the topics will change to a focus on communication-related topics. Feedback will be given online by the teacher. いかなる盗作、著作権の侵害も認めません。他人から写したいかなる課題、プロジェクトを提出した場合、またはそのような不正行為に加担した場合には0%とし、単位取得が不可能になる場合もあります。 Plagiarism will not be tolerated.
