概要
学修到達目標 | The objective of the English Communication I course is to strengthen all aspects of the student’s English speaking ability. The students will be able to speak more comfortably in a public setting and will improve their oral fluency and pronunciation. |

授業形態及び 授業方法 |
オンライン授業を実施. English Communication I will be taught in English. The course will cover a variety of techniques (Gestures, Vocal Variety, Body Language. Eye Contact, etc.) and phrases that will help students make presentations more confidently and effectively. Each week we will also go over different areas of basic pronunciation and grammar. 「この授業は全て英語で実施する。」 |
履修条件 | The EC courses are part of “The Social Communication Submajor Program.” The goal of this program is set as follows: Students will learn basic communication skills necessary to deepen the understanding between people in an ever diversifying information society. 1. English Communication Iは社会コミュニケーションサブメジャーコースの指定設置科目で、このサブメジャーを取る学生はEnglish Communication IIと共に履修しなければならない。 2. 教職免許を取る学生はEnglish Communication IIと共に履修しなければならない。 3. その他の学生は、English Communication IとEnglish Communication IIの両方をI・IIの順で履修することが望ましい。前期のみまたは後期のみ履修することは可能ですが、特にEnglish Communication IIのみ履修する場合、担当教員と相談して下さい。 For this course you should prepare yourself to participate actively in every class using only English. Please prepare a notebook for taking notes in class. Please review as much grammar as you can before the first class. Review the previous class material before the next class. Study outside of the classroom for at least 30 minutes a day. |

第4回 | Eye contact lesson- Good speech techniques, how to maintain eye contact with your audience. Tasks include video listening, practice using your own cellphone video, and a vocabulary quiz. |
第5回 | Taking Notes lesson - Good speech techniques, how to take and use notes., Tasks include a writing task, video listening, practice using your own cellphone video, and a vocabulary quiz. |
第6回 | Gestures and body language - Good speech techniques, the importance of body language. Tasks include a writing task, video listening and quiz, practice using your own cellphone video, and a vocabulary quiz. |
第7回 | The voice - Good speech techniques, Inflection and vocal variety. Tasks include a listening tasks and quiz, video listening, practice using your own cellphone video, and a vocabulary quiz. |
第8回 | Speech writing - The importance of the introduction Types of presentations. Tasks include a video listening and quiz, reading and listening task, practice using your own cellphone video, types of presentations quiz and a vocabulary quiz. |
第9回 | Speech writing – the Body. Presentation structure and signposts. Tasks include a writing task and speech recording task, reading and listening task, practice using your own cellphone video, a numbers quiz, and a vocabulary quiz. |
第10回 | Speech writing – the Conclusion. Presentation structure and signposts. Tasks include a writing task and speech recording task, a reading and listening task, practice using your own cellphone video, and a vocabulary quiz. |
第11回 | Review of weeks 8,9,10. – tasks include a video quiz, reading and listening practice, and practice using your own cellphone video |
第12回 | Presentation Visuals 1 – Charts, Graphs, Maps and Diagrams. Tasks include a writing task and speech recording task, practice using your own cellphone video, and a charts and graphs quiz. |
第13回 | Presentation Visual 2- The proper use of PowerPoint. The science of PowerPoint. Tasks include preparing your presentation PowerPoint. |
第14回 | Presentation design – Storyboarding. Tasks include a writing task and making a PowerPoint presentation, reading and listening task. |
第15回 | Presentation delivery – The value of having good presentation skills. Different delivery methods. Tasks include a lesson review quiz and a class survey. |
