概要
学修到達目標 | A. Students will learn customs and communication styles for travelling abroad. B. Students will learn how to express their appreciation and respect for the differences among peoples of various cultural backgrounds. C. Students will learn to interpret and interact with non-verbal and verbal communication among peoples of various cultural backgrounds. D. Students will learn effective ways to communicate for traveling abroad, including interactions in travel industry settings. E. Students will learn skills for socializing and making friends. F. Students will learn to comprehend and express other people’s ideas and opinions, particularly for itinerary purposes such as making connections when using public transportation services. G. This English Communication I course is scaffolded for helping students achieve higher levels of receptive and productive English abilities in preparation for the English Communication II course. |

Interactive group work, both inside and outside of class. Social modeling. Dewey’s (2010) four stages of reflection―experience, description, analysis, and intelligent action. This course is conducted in English. 授業内外での対話型グループ学習作業。社会文化型学習方法。デューイ (2010) の4段階の内省――体験、描写、分析、知的行動を基にしている。この授業は全て英語で実施する。 |
履修条件 | 1. English Communication Iは社会コミュニケーションサブメジャーコースの指定設置科目で、このサブメジャーを取る学生はEnglish Communication IIと共に履修しなければならない。2. 教職免許を取る学生はEnglish Communication IIと共に履修しなければならない。 3. その他の学生は、English Communication IとEnglish Communication IIの両方をI・IIの順で履修することが望ましい。前期のみまたは後期のみ履修することは可能ですが、特にEnglish Communication IIのみ履修する場合、担当教員と相談して下さい。 |

Students will decide their own topics for conversation, research their topics, prepare their own conversation materials, and take notes for improving the ways to express themselves in English. The teacher will also bring original materials related to the course theme. この授業に参加する学生は自分で会話のトピック、調査のトピックを決め、会話のために必要となる資料を自分で準備する。英語で表現力を豊かにするために、ノートを取る。担当教員はコーステーマに沿った資料を配布する。

15 activities (writing, listening, or both) of 50 points each week = 100% Due to the Coronovirus crisis, we will not be meeting in class, limiting our chances for face-to-face interactive communication. Therefore, the usual activities and projects for this class will be altered to suit this situation. Class materials will be ondemand, and the activities will be focused mainly on writing and listening. The project is cancelled for this semester, and the topics will change to a focus on communication-related topics.
