概要
学修到達目標 | The course goal is to improve basic English communication skills (listening, speaking [pronunciation, conversation, presentation], reading, writing and vocabulary) for use in daily life. The is a multiple-proficiency course - all English levels are OK. This course is designed to bring basic users (CEFR A1-A2/TOEIC LR 5-540) to independent users (CEFR B1-B2/TOEIC LR 550+). Higher proficiency students (CEFR B1-C2/TOEIC LR 550+) will receive level-adjusted tasks if requested. English learners in this course will develop the following functional skills: 1. Greeting and giving personal informations 2. Discussing habits and routines 3. Telling time 4. Describing places and things 5. Requests, suggestions, advice, invitations and arrangements 6. English for travel situations (domestic and international) 7. Describing past experiences and storytelling |

授業形態及び 授業方法 |
This course is a face-to-face (対面授業) course. We will do various listening, speaking, reading, writing, and vocabulary building activities. The topics of the lessons, listed below, may change due to student interest. この授業は全て英語で実施する。(But I will gladly explain things in Japanese if you ask.) TOEIC試験を受ける必要はありません。(But you can take the TOEIC LR or SW through 一般教育CALL教室) if you want. |
履修条件 | 1. English Communication Iは社会コミュニケーションサブメジャーコースの指定設置科目で、このサブメジャーを取る学生はEnglish Communication IIと共に履修しなければならない。 2. 教職免許を取る学生はEnglish Communication IIと共に履修しなければならない。 3. その他の学生は、English Communication IとEnglish Communication IIの両方をI・IIの順で履修することが望ましい。前期のみまたは後期のみ履修することは可能ですが、特にEnglish Communication IIのみ履修する場合、担当教員と相談して下さい。 |

第1回 | Come to class. If over 40 students, a lottery will be held. Introduction to the course (syllabus explanation). Topics will include: greetings, introducing yourself and others, small talk and sharing personal information. | After class: Register for the course. Review the syllabus and lesson materials. 成績評価の方法 及び基準 |
In-class and homework tasks and activities (Speaking activities, writings, quizzes, etc.) 20% Presentation #1 20% Midterm evaluation 20% Presentation #2 20% Final evaluation 20% Each scored task will have a point value and grading criteria posted. Scores and correct answers will be given. Some tasks will be scored credit/no credit, and on other tasks feedback will be given individually. On written tasks scores and feedback will be given on format, spelling, grammar, word usage, writing style, etc. On spoken tasks feedback will be given on pronunciation, fluency, grammar, etc. |
