授業形態及び 授業方法 |
This course is an on-demand (オンデマンド) course, and either a Moodle or Canvas LMS will be used. The teacher suggests (recommended, not required) scheduling individual or small-group face-to-face discussions to improve speaking for conversation and presentations, especially to discuss paper and presentation feedback and editing. |
準備学習(予習・ 復習等)の内容・ 受講のための 予備知識 |
This course will use a skills-based approach. This means that each week some skills will be presented, and tasks to practice the skills will be given. Scored activities on the LMS will include quizzes, writing assignments, speaking tasks for pronunciation and fluency practice, and video presentations. Participants will engage in the use of model papers to help them improve their understanding of the conventions of writing in their field (styles vary by field). For writing, a process approach will be used. This means students will submit draft writings, edit, edit more, and then submit a final paper. For students interested in a conversational approach, it is suggested they visit office hours or schedule speaking time with the teacher. |

学生への メッセージ |
Writing is a process. Presenting requires practice. The more writing and presenting you do (of any kind in any language), the better you will become. The syllabus contents may be adjusted to suit the proficiency levels and needs of the students in the course. |
